Bich Dong Pagoda
Just a short distance north of Tam Coc area, Bich Dong Pagoda is famous for the exotic adorned entrances to the cave, and the beautiful karst formations inside the caves. Legend has it that these pagodas were built in the early 15th century two Buddhist monks: Tri Kien and Tri The, because they were glimpsed by the stunning scenery in there. In the pagoda complex, there are three separate caves namely Ha Pagoda, Trung Pagoda, and Thuong Pagoda that can be discovered along the path up the rocky hillside. Due to the architectural style of Le Dynasty and Nguyen Dynasty, all three pagodas have wooden architecture.
Trang An Landscape Complex
With magnificent natural scenery and cultural value, Trang An Landscape Complex has attracted a huge number of tourists to come. Situated on the southern banks of the Red River Delta, it comprises a range of caves, some of these show signs of human activity as far back as 30,000 years ago. Tourists can explore some caves by boat or visit on foot. Some famous sites that you should not miss in Trang An are Dia Linh cave, Treasure Cave, Light Cave valley, Tran temple, Khong Temple, etc.
Hoa Lu Ancient Capital
For a short period of time from 968 to 1009 C.E, Hoa Lu was the capital of Vietnam under the Dinh dynasty and the first part of the Le dynasty. It covered an area of 300 ha, consisting of the Inner Citadel and the Outer Citadel and was surrounded by high rock mountain ranges which could protect Hoa Lu from invasion. Nowadays, there are only some relics related to the Dinh, Le and Ly dynasties. Inside the complex, there are an iconic gate and various sacred temples that are worth a visit. The first stop on your trip is Dinh Temple, which is a worshipping place for King Dinh Tien Hoang and his sons. The other one is Le Temple, which was built to dedicate to King Le Dai Hanh, Queen Duong Van Nga and their sons, and often used for large festivals.
Phat Diem Cathedral
Phat Diem Cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches in Vietnam with special architecture that is a combination of European architectural style and Vietnamese religious buildings. This complex consists of a lake, a stone church, a cathedral, a bell house and three artificial grottoes. Tourists are easily attracted to the beautiful square lake on the main road to the cathedral at first sight. Especially, in the middle of the lake, there is a small island containing the statue of Jesus Christ. The next eye-catching site in there is the bell house with exotic stone carvings on both sides of the walls.
Cuc Phuong National Park
